One of the most important things to this company is you, the customer. Every company says this. Believe us, we’re fully aware of it. Every company is on your side, right? Until they fill your inbox with stuff you don’t need, remind you about stuff you hadn’t forgotten about, subscribe you to “newsletters” you never wittingly subscribed to and pester you with offers for products you’re not interested in. It’s annoying. We know. We get the same crap cramming our inboxes, too!

So. We decided to do something about it. In fact, we decided to do nothing about it! That’s right. NO. MORE. SPAM. None. Never. We are done with spam email.

There are a number of reasons why we do this:

1. We’re not interested in bugging our customers! We’re far more interested in keeping them.

2. Our products are as competetively priced as they can be, all the time. There are no sales. Well, except the constant sale that takes place for 365 days a year. And we don’t need to bug you about that!

3. This company is all too aware of our current economy. So why waste money on email marketing? To us, the returns are too diminishing to be of any value.

4. If you’d like to hear from us, you can on a voluntary basis, here at our blog and especially at our Twitter, where we do our best to provide updates and latest goings on. We believe this is the fairest way we can communicate with our customers and supporters.

4. We hate spam, so why on earth are you going to like it?

Two design houses arguably less well known specifically for their sunglasses are Roberto Cavalli and Tom Ford. At the forefront of haute couture, both brands consider accessories something of an aside to their catwalk showcases and general clothing ranges. But you really wouldn’t know it! As befits two companies focused on every last detail of their output, each company’s sunglasses ranges are truly reflections of each brand. Cavalli, all brazen ostentation, Gothic elegance and decadent indulgence; Tom Ford, very much 60s-oriented and classical, but without a shred of retro-heavy pretense or particular effort.

But while it may seem like an effortless procedure, there’s no doubt that incredible amounts of care, artistic flair and attention go into each respective brand’s eyewear. It may be the sheer wow factor of each and every Cavalli frame that often feature large collections of diamante crystals, swooping lines and unusual Gothic touches such as snakes curling around the edge of a frame. Or it may be Tom Ford’s meticulous eye for classical lines that simply draw you back to a bygone age; and a use of subtlety that many other designers would literally lose limbs for. There’s something unmistakable about high-end design.

We make out like it has just happened, but Ray’s parent company, The Glasses Warehouse LTD, has been trading for some time now. The Glasses Warehouse LTD is the registered legal business name, Ray’s is the company’s new brand!

We hope you like what we’re trying to do. We think Ray’s as a brand is more identifiable and indeed memorable than The Glasses Warehouse LTD, which, while being a more generic trading name, led some to become confused. Unfortunately, we don’t stock drinking glasses.. just the ones you put on your face! Furthermore, as we have tended to concentrate on discount designer sunglasses, we thought it better to develop a brand more focused on this market. And so, Ray’s Sunglasses was born!

We should note that Ray’s will be stocking prescription eyeglasses in the near future, too. We’re massive fans of designer eyewear, period; so we’re hoping to stock more than just sunglasses. We’re particularly interested in stocking Oakley prescription eyeglasses, Ray-Ban prescription eyeglasses, Prada prescription eyeglasses,  and eyeglasses from other key names in the designer sector.

Anyway, I digress.. As for our new commercial partnership with eBay, we’re nothing if not very excited! eBay has steadily become the number one market for practically every consumer product you can think of. Starting as more of a second-hand “car boot sale” marketplace, eBay grew rapidly in the late 90s and early noughties. Gradually, the demand from consumers for new product, being sold at almost “secondhand prices,” began to outstrip the supply and demand of genuine secondhand goods. While eBay is still very much an open marketplace, it is now regarded as the world’s largest and most popular marketplace for new and used products.

By virtue of eBay’s popularity and worldwide renown, businesses of all shapes and sizes are able to reach more people than any individual website has the power and ability to do. And using eBay’s name and listing system, small businesses, in particular, are able to offer goods with the minimum of overhead costs, making eBay THE place online to search for discounts and great deals. So it makes absolute sense that a small company such as Ray’s should develop a presence on eBay.

We should stress that the Ray’s – eBay partnership is really at the 1.0 stage. We are striving to improve the way people are able to shop at Ray’s Sunglasses on eBay and we hope to completely customise our shop and listings within the next 12-24 months. We’re looking to make the Ray’s shopping experience fun and memorable. After all, we want you to tell all your friends about us!

A genuine “sports” sunglasses manufacturer, Carrera began in 1956 inspired by American Motorsport. Through the decades the  brand has understood the need to merge its sport-oriented roots with a sense of style and fashion.

Big in the 1980s, the company has experienced a re-emergence in the 2000s, thanks largely to Lady Gaga (in her video for “Bad Romance”) and a whole host of other celebrities. The comapny has particularly profited from the all-conquering Aviator craze. The two key models, Champion and Endurance are modern, but retro-inspired, reworkings of the plastic aviator shape, which provides a more hip and street-styled alternative to the military-like metal aviator from companies such as Ray-Ban (that recall that particualar company’s military heritage).

We like Carrera. They make extremely light and durable sunglasses. They don’t feel like much to touch, but their Optyl Plastic technology means they are naturally lighter than conventional acetate frames, basically meaning they weigh nothing on your face.

We love the styling, too. They have that real 70s, high-colour, cartoonish stlying to them that is neither dated nor ostentatious. We hope to be stacking our shelves with as much Carrera as we can get.  And with everything at either £59.98 or £64.98, you’ll be hard pressed to find cheaper!

We’ve got wraparounds, aviators, sport sunglasses and oversized styles for men and women.

We do and try keep our prices as low as possible, but it has to be said, you get a lot of bang for your buck with Police sunglasses! We deal with plenty of designer brands here at Ray’s, and Police sunglasses are among the most well-made. Slightly heavier in feel (and weight) than say Oakley, Police sunglasses have a greater feeling of luxury and elegance (for the women) and durability, comfort and style (for the men).
